The problem with window blinds
Home Improvement April 17th. 2010, 6:09amI made the move from curtains and drapes to blinds for my home window treatment a few years ago. While I was glad that I moved away from curtains but at the same I did not have very good experience with the vertical blinds that I used back then. The verticals back then and even now usually comes in the same color either for office or home used. They were useful for large windows and able to block out sunlight effectively. However after about a year, the fabric of my vertical blinds began to change color and I realised that there were mildew growing on the blinds. I tried many ways to clean it and I even bought a guide book on how to clean and repair vertical blinds but end the end wasn’t very successful with it. Eventually I had to throw away those blinds because they were beyond repair. I was actually contemplating to switch back to curtains but my fiance back then put a stop to it. We searched around for suitable replacement and it was during that time that bamboo blinds began to make its mark in the market. I was captivated with the simplicity and freshness that bamboo blinds seem to bring to the home decor. The unassuming and elegant look of bamboo blinds are able match all sorts of decor styles. Finally I decided to go for the roller blinds for my patio and as for indoors, a mixture of bamboo roman blinds and a special type of Japanese blinds called Sudare. You do not know what you have missed if you have not seen a Sudare. They are beautifully decorated and most of time hand crafted bamboo blinds from Japan. The classy and elegant blinds are mainly used for separating different rooms or areas in the home and you can absolutely use them for window treatment as well.
