Who Would Need a Walk-in Tub?
Home Improvement April 6th. 2010, 12:08pmA walk-in tub is a great option for many people. They aren’t just an option for disabled or wheel-chair bound people anymore. The walk-in tubs are a great option for elderly people, obese people, and people with physical ailments as well.
Starting with disabled or wheel-chair bound people, these tubs are a great accessory to their homes. The newest option, to have a lift chair installed, is a great feature that any physically disabled person can appreciate. The chair allows them to scoot with ease from their wheel-chair and onto the lift chair. The chair then lowers slowly into the tub. So, now, the person can be completely independent and prepare their own bath, and even get in on their own. Now, no more embarrassment from needing the help. Many people in these situations, just choose not to take the bath, and then miss out on a relaxing and therapeutic soak.
Another person who would benefit from these walk-in tubs would be an elderly person. These tubs, with the side open door, make getting in the tub an easy task. Something that most people take for granted is being able to jump in the tub any time that they want. But for an elderly person, or someone with severe and limiting arthritis or pain, a bath might be more pain than its worth. The fact that someone who could really benefit from a relaxing soak is unable to take advantage is a big deal. Baths help with circulation and ease tension as well as relaxing muscles and sore joints. These are main reasons a person SHOULD take a bath, not be the causes of why they CAN’T take a bath.
The last group of people that can benefit from this would be obese individuals. These tubs come in a wide range of widths and depths. The walk-in tubs can be ordered in an extra wide model which will accommodate a larger, more full-figured person. This is a great feature as well, because extremely obese people could benefit greatly from a soak in a tub. For morbidly obese individuals, standing can be impossible, and if they stay away from tubs because they can’t fit into them, it is hard to be truly clean. A soak in the tub with the jets blasting, will not only relieve aches and pains, but it will allow them to get clean in areas that might be hard or impossible to reach.
These walk-in tubs are truly a great invention. These tubs bring a new therapeudic option for many people, not only the ones listed above. The list is lengthy of who can benefit from these tubs, and the list can continue. The more people who hear about these tubs, will allow doctors and researchers to find more benefits that they can bring to more individuals!
